The Springfield Academy of Arts & Academics presents it’s end of the year extravaganza! Confluence IV: The Science That Surrounds Us May 25 & 26 • 10 AM & 7 PM • A3 Main, 615 Main St., Springfield "Confluence IV: The Science that Surrounds Us" is an event of learning produced by the entire student body of A3. The 9th & 10th grades, as an extension of their learning in earth sciences this spring, is producing “A River Runs Through It” while the 11th and 12th grade presents “A Carnival of Physics”. The event opens at 10 AM and again 7 PM. Each event is open for about two hours. The public is welcome at all performances. Admission is free, though attendance limits exist. For best viewing, folks are encouraged to arrive early. “A River Runs Through It” features a lifelike river and surrounding ecosystem right in the middle of the school. It is designed to educate the community about the Mckenzie River and nearby wildlife as well as integrate the curriculum into a final project. Students have each been assigned ten mile segment of river to study and recreate. The final collaboration includes a scaled down river builit with materials donated by local businesses. A “Carnival of Physics” mimics an actual county fair midway, complete with midway hawkers and carnival games. Come one! Come all! An exciting educational extravaganza is once again upon us. “The Carnival of Physics rolls back into town. Immerse yourself in this vaudevillian venture into the world of velocity, vectors, and gravitational vexation. At the “Carnival of Physics,” you will learn the complicated concepts of physics through classic carnival games. You'll learn about projectile motion, vertical and horizontal displacement, and the acceleration from gravity. Experience the possibilities of education with games such as: the Atom Smasher, Skee-ball, and even a Merry-Go-Round, all designed to indulge craving brains with a fantabulous sense of fun. Confluence IV is sponsored by the Log Cabin Nursery, Bring Recycling, Square Deal Lumber, and Jerry’s Home Improvement Center. For more information, please contact A3 at (541) 744-6728. Michael Fisher Academy of Arts & Academics "The Springfield Academy of Arts & Academics combines high academic standards with professional-level arts experiences to propel learning, engage passion, and empower transformation." “I always prefer to believe the best of everybody - it saves so much trouble.” - Rudyard Kipling, Author |
