Probability Quiz Tuesday

Math:  Lesson 18 "Theoretical Probability"

                    # of favorable outcomes
P(event)=  _____________________________
                    # of possible outcomes

The difference is.... "Experimental Probability"  is what REALLY happens.  "Theoretical Probability" is what might happen.

Homework:   Lesson 17 and 18 worksheets.  Both can be printed online from the online textbook link.

Science:  Physical and Chemical Changes Lesson.  Watched Bill Nye "Chemical Reactions"  and took quiz.

Fun:  Mystery people:  Alicia and Cody

Instant Snow

Math:    Experimental Probability Lesson:  "sample space", "outcomes", "trials"

                  how many times event occurs
P(e)=         ----------------------------------------
                        total number of trials

Science:  "Insta snow" in the palms of our hands!  Also, what is the difference between a chemical change and a physical change?

Snow Day

Math:  Keep your eyes and ears open for "probability" of snow tonight.  See if the weather people use words like "likely or unlikely".
Science:  Enjoy playing in the  solid  form of H20!

Litmus Paper

Math:  Gridbook probabilty lesson.  Homework:  Lesson 16 worksheet 11X17 paper.
Science:  Use litmus paper and lemon to see if we got a color change.  Foldable notes on chemical properties.
Fun:  I will give away some red and blue litmus paper tomorrow for someone to take home and test some acids and bases.

Probability

Math:  We worked the yellow probability worksheet using real dice, tiles, cards etc.  We placed "bets" and drew for "winners".  Finish the yellow worksheet for homework.
Science:  We got in partners and tried to guess the answers to questions about acids and bases using a word bank and then watched a movie about acids and bases.  After the movie we could adjust the answers and then we corrected them together.

Math Quiz

Math:  Warm-up, corrected parts of the math homework together, reviewed for quiz, took quiz on Lessons 12,13,and 14.  Scores will be in snapgrades this afternoon.

Science:  Read Section 2 about chemical properties.  Three chemical properties are "reactivity", "flammability" and "toxicity".

Fun:  10 minutes of Heads up 7 Up!

2/17

Math Lesson 14 evens.  Solving problems with percents.  Finding the percent of a number.

Quiz Friday on lesson 12, 13, 14.

Next week we begin probability;  Lesson 16.

Lemons and grapefruit

Math:  Warm-up, corrected homework,  gridbook notes for Lesson 13.  Homework Lesson 13 evens assigned from the book.  Quiz on lesson 12, 13, 14 on Friday.

Science:  We read about the physical properties of acids and bases today.  We ate acidic fruits.  Sliced lemons and grapefruits have a "sour taste", "squeaky feel" and "stinging sensation" and a "sharp smell".
Mrs. Stolp teasingly threatened to make someone eat soap since it is a base, but......

Tues

Science:  If you want to lose "weight" go to the moon;  "Weight watchers" should really be called "Mass watchers".  Weight is related to gravity.  Mass is actually how much matter in an object.  Density=mass/volume.

Math Homework page 72 evens.  Also, try playing around with the gizmo linked below.

Monday

No math homework unless you got below a 6 on the fractions to decimals memorization test.  Use your flashcards to study for a retake on Wednesday during study hall.

Math:  Warm-up,  Book 2 Block 3 pretest taken;  Book 2 Block 2 Tests returned, scores reviewed and tests recollected.  See snapgrades for info.  High score and most improved got student store money!  A bag of Hershey's Kisses activity.

Science:  Chapter 5, Section 1 Powerpoint notes.  Created four door foldable for Physical and Chemical properties and changes.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Thurs

Math:  warm-up, paired up with a partner to check homework problems, then corrected them together as a class. Warm-up and homework collected.

Quiz:  Common fraction/decimal equivalents.  Scores on snapgrades.  Anyone who scored below 6 will need to retake during Wednesday's Flex study hall.  Use your flashcards to study!

Test:  Block 2 Test;  look for scores on snapgrades this week.

Science:  We start Chapter 5 in earnest next week.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Tues

Math:  Warm-up, corrected Lesson 8 homework.  Lesson 9 gridbook notes;  solving problems with rates and unit rates.
Homework:  Lesson 9 worksheet all.

Worked on memorizing common fraction/ decimal equivalents with our flashcards.  Jason vs. Jorge in front of the class.  Jason won, so he got to try play the "Hacker" game in front of the class.  Can you do it?Stop Hacker!!
Science:  Read some comics from the newspaper that connect to Chapter 5.  Worked with a partner to preview and think about what we think we know and what we want to know about physical and chemical properties and changes in Chapter 5.

Fun:  new seats
